Beer gardens need chairs that are dry again before the next round. The Kingsland uses textilene, a tightly woven PVC-coated polyester mesh, stretched across a bronze-toned bamboo-look aluminium frame. Rain runs straight through, the mesh flexes slightly for comfort, and it never needs a cushion.
Curved arms make it comfortable for a long afternoon, and it stacks for storage. The dark brown mesh hides spills and dust well, which matters in a busy beer garden.
Sizing and layout. Its arms and slightly wider seat make it best at four-tops of 800-900 mm or rectangular tables rather than tiny footpath two-tops. Allow about 1.3-1.5 m² per guest in dining zones furnished with armchairs. Mesh can be replaced on the frame if it is cut or worn after years of use, and frames can be coated in a range of colours to suit the venue. Stack and store ahead of storms. Dark mesh also stays looking tidy between hosings.
