The Hobart is a traditional pub settle with a richer finish. The tall back is upholstered in red velvet with horizontal channels, and the seat is a deep cushion in the same fabric. A band of woven cane runs across the top and turns down the curved shoulders at each end, framed in solid timber. Below the seat, the walnut-tone base is divided into recessed panels, like a piece of old joinery.
The high back gives each table a sense of privacy and blocks noise from the next booth, which is why settles have lasted in pubs for so long. The panelled front also takes kicks from boots far better than upholstery.
Construction: solid timber frame with plywood panels, walnut-tone commercial lacquer; seat and back on high-resilience foam; cane set into routed frames; base with levelling feet.
Where it works: pub dining rooms, hotel bars, cocktail lounges and heritage venues.
Options: velvet, vinyl or leather in any colour (COM accepted); a lift-up seat for storage can be quoted. Foam and fabric specified to meet AS/NZS fire requirements on request; check with your building certifier.
